Isn’t the Met Gala everyone’s favorite time of the year? We’re all busy checking out the celebrity looks and admiring their style.
The Met Gala, which stands for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Gala, is a yearly event to raise funds for the benefit of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It serves as the grand opening of the Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit. Each year, the Met Gala has a particular theme that attendees are expected to interpret and incorporate into their fashion choices for the event.
This year’s Met Gala celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibition “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” The dress code was “Garden of Time.”
The dress code theme is inspired by J.G. Ballard’s short story “Garden of Time.” James Graham Ballard was an English novelist and short story writer renowned for his psychological fiction.
From the theme title, we were expecting to see celebrities promoting sustainable fashion, but that wasn’t the case. There were only a few who stood out and promoted sustainability in fashion.
The fashion industry is currently experiencing a significant shift in consumer behavior as more people become aware of the environmental impact of fast fashion
This trend towards upcycling and sustainable fashion offers a unique opportunity to highlight the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry.
Host for this year’s Met gala were Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth. Zendaya in her second dress wore a sustainable dress.
